So, most of the cover photos for the two blogs I’m currently running (this one and dariabloodworth.ca) are from Pexels. It’s a good option, it’s not AI slop, and it’s fair use. But here’s the thing, I read a lot of posts from pro-AI people talking about willfully violating the rules of platforms that are against AI slop being submitted to their platforms. Also, there is something beautiful about taking my own photos for my own blog. And I have been interested in photography for a while. It’s one of those art forms that I can do in spite of having the shittiest motor skills imaginable.
Welcome back to iPhone Photography School, here’s an ad!
Knowing what I needed to work on, I logged into iPhone Photography School. After all, I paid for the course content, I might as well take advantage of it. And, immediately upon logging in, I got a pop-up modal ad for some shit they’re pushing called “AI Lab”. And when I exited it, I got a hero ad for… AI Lab. I get the distinct sense that they’re interested in pushing AI crap on me.
And when I got past the big AI slop advert, I saw that I didn’t get too far into the course material. Which is pretty… typical for me in recent years. And I’m honestly not happy about that fact, but I’m going through some pretty decently sized life changes and I’m back in the Yukon for a reason.
Several, in fact.
But, while I’m here, I am engaging with the Yukon’s bariatric program… not because I need bariatric surgery. In fact, I’ve already had bariatric surgery. But after having had bariatric surgery in Fort Collins, I didn’t get any post-op support after I plateaued. This clinic seems different. They put me on Vyvanse, which I actually was on back in Longmont but I was using it for treating the ADHD part of my AuDHD. But, this time, it’s to try to accelerate my metabolism to get me out of the rut that is keeping me from losing weight. But, now that I’m on Vyvanse again, maybe I should try to enrich myself. It’s time to learn a skill.
Back in the Course
It’s time to actually complete the iPhone Photography School course I paid for. And if that pink bit in the Module 1 part in the sidebar is any indication, I didn’t get too far in the course. This both makes me feel bad that I didn’t take this course that I paid for… but also good in the sense that I didn’t forget things that I had actually learned.
I also want to add, they have a crapton of courses… and I actually paid for two of them. The iPhone photography course and a separate iPhone video course. I might blog about taking that one later. But this post is about getting back into this photography course. And I’m going to try to complete Modules 1 & 2 this week. So, yes, I used another cover photo from Pexels for this post. But I’m hoping that I’ll be able to change the ratio to be mostly my own photos.

Also, yes, I have noticed that there’s an advert to upsell me lifetime updates for this course for iOS 26. This site seems to love upselling their other courses and I’m not going to lie, some of them look very interesting and I might sign up for those too. We’ll see how this one goes first. But as for purchasing lifetime updates for my course, I’m not going to be taking advantage of that. Mostly because I do intend to leave the Apple ecosystem fully at some point. And unless the Fairphone comes to Canada, I’m going to have to wait until I can travel internationally again. That is not going to happen until I either get a Certificate of Identity or become a Canadian citizen. And yes, I have applied for the former. IRCC appears to be taking their time on issuing me a Certificate of Identity.
