Hi there! You’re here a bit earlier than I intended. So, this is yay.ee. It’s a website different from dariabloodworth.ca, mostly because I was tempted to blog about gardening and tech and other things outside of writing. But, if you’re here when this post is live and the site is currently in progress, you might have some questions… like why? How?
Inspiration
Bryan Veloso‘s the one that got me on this. I was there when he was redesigning Avalonstar after the Aries Project. Here’s the way he described what he was up to and here’s how it came along to a fully designed site in roughly a month.
Why?
Well, first, having a domain as short as yay.ee creates a sort of pressure to do something with it apart from receiving e-mail. After all, what else could I do? Put a picture of Fluttershy on here while writing something like “Fluttershy is not a baguette, but she is a cute pony.” I can’t imagine who would do that.
I also have some… problems with my author site that I am currently trying to troubleshoot… and I need a site that is being live designed to test out some theories. Also, I’m actively switching to Linux and I’m kinda cramping my author blog’s style by having my journey to switching to Linux live there.
Also, I fucking hate the site editor function in new WordPress. It offended me so much that, for the first time since it split from b2, I started abandoning WordPress. However, after seeing that I don’t like the other ones (and yes, I’m including ClassicPress in that too), I decided to come back to WordPress.
How?
I’ve downloaded the underscores theme from Automattic. I’m hoping to make… somewhat daily updates to the theme. Keep in mind, I’m actively working on a bunch of novels too. In fact, I’m going to attempt to use the CSSEdit features in Espresso and see if hits the same nostalgia buttons that the old CSSEdit did.
